a yogic map of the 7 main chakras of the subtle body

What is an invocation?

An invocation is the heartfelt act of calling upon specific energies to aid you in some way, this could come in the form of hailing a deity by name or simply reaching out for a specific form of divine power or inspiration.

It is helpful to utter invocations out loud; whether you are a yogi and believe that the vibrationary nature of the sound will attract like vibrations, or a hermeticist and believe that the act of speaking out loud will allow you to get in touch with your own subconscious, various traditions agree that invocations must be spoken.

How can you use them?

Before beginning your meditation on a particular chakra, use one of these simple invocations to set your intention and connect with the necessary energy in order to simultaneously focus on a specific energy centre, and expand your capacity to receive healing. Then just close your eyes place your attention on the chakra's physical location as well as its corresponding characteristics that you desire to reinforce and strengthen.

Invocations

Root Chakra (Muladhara): May I find powerful rooting in my purpose with knowledge that all I need already lies within

Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana): May I remain open to learning and allow the energy of creativity to flow through me in all things

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): May my desires be grounded in wisdom and full of pure intention

Heart Chakra (Anahata): May I find love for myself first so that I may open my spirit to true compassion and unconditional love

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): May I let go of fear completely in order to make space for truth and clear communication
Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): May my vision and intuition be strong as they guide me through my evolution
Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): May I experience oneness with the divine and radiate love and bliss with every breath

How should you close the session?

To end, simply set your intention on closing your meditation and lock in your healing by expressing your gratitude out loud.
